Lenten Devotions

Youth 2010 Summer Mission Trips
Registration Deadline:  March 1

High School
June 18-26 - El Salavdor
Youth will participate in the already established partnership our church has begun in Getsemani community of Ahuachapan.  Sixteen year olds through graduated seniors will build homes with Habitat and futher community relationships during this exciting 8-day mission experience.  Cost: $950 (nonrefundable deposit $300).

July 11-17 - Camp Livingstone, Hurricane, W.Va.
Completed ninth through twelfth-grade youth will join groups from other churches to repair homes, enjoy time for reflection and worship in an atmosphere of warm hospitality.  Mid-week whitewater rafting excursion is planned.  Cost: $470 (nonrefundable deposit $150).

July 18-24 - Montreat Youth Conference, Montreat, NC
This year's theme is In These Waters.  At this unique conference, rising ninth through graduated seniors gather with youth from across the country for a week of high energy through study, worship and recreation.  New this year is a mid-week half-day mission component.  Cost: $500 (nonrefundable deposit $160).

Middle School
June 12-18, Urban Mission Camp, Mobile, Ala., Eighth Grade Youth
Eighth Grade confirmands will travel to work with Government St. Presbyterian Church.  We will bear witness to the good news of Jesus Christ through service to urban poor and reflect on poverty issues in light of our Christian faith.  We will also enjoy an afternoon at the beach and staying on the bay.  Cost: $300 (nonrefundable deposit $125).

Aug. 1-6, CROSS Mission for Sixth through Eighth-Grade Youth
CROSS is an urban ministry run by Jody Strange here at Myers Park Presbyterian Church.  It facilitates outreach opportunities that minister to people who are homeless, hungry, elderly, addicted, disabled and children at risk or living in poverty in Charlotte.  Youth will spend the week at MPPC working in urban settings throughout the day.  Cost: $200 (nonrefundable deposit $100).

July 11-16, Pittsburgh Project for Sixth and Seventh-Grade Youth
About 280 participants each week converge in Pittsburgh to join in our work, buildling servant leaders and upholding the dignity of vulnerable homeowners.  During the day we'll work on improving homes while at night we will worship together and share the message of God's transforming love.  We will also enjoy one afternoon in Pittsburgh.  Cost: $350 (nonrefundable deposit $125).
