Choirs
Cantata Choir: seasonal choir; Cantata Sundays
The Cantata Choir is for those who are unable to sing regularly during the liturgical year, but can join the combined adult choirs in singing major works for special services such as All Saints Day and Cantata Sunday.Celebrate Singers:
Contemporary Worship Leadership
The Celebrate Singers are a group of singers who join the Celebrate Band in leading music for the Celebrate Service.
Chancel Choir: traditional worship leadership
The Chancel Choir sings for the late traditional worship service. No audition is required, but the ability to read music is helpful. Commitment to weekly rehearsals is necessary. Sanctuary Choir: traditional worship leadership
The Sanctuary Choir sings for the early traditional worship service. No audition is required, but the ability to read music is helpful. Commitment to weekly rehearsals is necessary.
Instrumental Ensembles
Celebrate Band: contemporary worship leadership
The Celebrate Band is a group of musicians who join the Celebrate Singers in leading music for the Celebrate Service.
Festival Brass: an inter-generational ensemble for ninth grade and older
The Festival Brass group is an inter-generational ensemble that assists in worship leadership on a seasonal basis.
Providence Handbell Ringers: an intergenerational ensemble for ninth grade and older
This group of adults and youth ring on a seasonal basis at services including Stewardship Sunday, Christmas Eve and Palm Sunday. Experience is not necessary, but helpful. Commitment to rehearsals is required.
Music Library Helpers
Disciples assist the choral librarian in removing and refiling past Sunday choral music, filling folders with upcoming music and cataloging new music.
Database key-entry helpers
Disciples assist in entering music titles into the computer database system which allows the musicians to have electronic access to all the vocal, choral and instrumental scores instead of having to search manually. This will allow the musicians to plan music more efficiently.
Music & Arts: "Concerts on the Corner" Planning Team
A community outreach planning team committed to the establishment of a music and arts concert series that offers something unique to the MPPC and greater Charlotte community.
Music Ministry Administration Team
A team of lay people with various gifts to offer, beyond music-making, that provide assistance and leadership in the areas of administration for the music ministry. These responsibilities include budget planning, personnel planning, endowment supervision, planning of choral mission trips, maintenance of all MPPC instruments (pianos, organs, handbells, carillon), program development, facilities liaison and Music Ministry representation on the Worship Council.
