Adult Education Ministries
In the Great Commission Jesus tells his disciples "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you." Teaching others, therefore, is the responsibility of all who would be disciples of Jesus Christ. Helping others grow in faith—increasing another’s understanding and maturity in faith—not only clarifies our own faith but equips Christ’s disciples for the work of ministry.

Planning (The Adult Education Team): Through monthly meetings this team plans for, oversees implementation, and supports educational offerings and events for adults. It also evaluates program offerings, studies Adult Education practices, and reflects on the best ways to help adults grow as disciples.

Church School (Adult Teachers/Leaders): This team maintains contact with Sunday morning class contacts/leaders; collects information for monthly publication of Class Notes (teacher and topic schedules for classes); and supports adult class leaders in their ministry.

Wednesdays @ MPPC Team: Plans and coordinates yearly schedule of Wednesday night dinners, collects money at dinners; helps prepare the dining hall for meals, and coordinates with kitchen staff to provide the best possible experience for participants.

The Academy at MPPC: The Academy Board’s monthly meeting provides oversight and sets policy for the overall Academy program. Teams meet additionally to design curriculum offerings, prepare publicity, and handle program logistics.

Children and Their Families Ministries
Myers Park Presbyterian Church is a congregation that covenants for children. As church and family, we are committed to the promises we make in baptism to be partners with parents as we help children grow in faith. Our goals are to offer ministries that:

  • Shape Christian identity so strongly that every child knows him or herself to be a Child of God,
  • Create a place where children are welcomed, valued and recognized as vital members of the whole community,
  • Nurture discipleship so that God’s love is made real in each child’s life as they grow into a life of service.
