Covenant Ministry Opportunities

Christian Life Center
The mission of the Christian Life Center is to provide creative and meaningful recreational and fellowship activities for church members, their guests, and the community in a Christian atmosphere. The CLC hosts many activities. There is a full-sized gymnasium where basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, skating, gymnastics, camps and other recreational activities are offered as well as organized leagues in basketball, soccer, and flag football on-and-off campus for children and adults. We offer an indoor track, plus fitness and weight rooms for those who want to exercise and a game room and lounge for those who want to relax. A variety of fitness classes such as Jazzercise, aerobic fitness, athletic conditioning, Seniorcise, Yoga, Pilates, and Quick Fit are available to all who would like to participate. CLC disciples serve as greeters and may also serve on the CLC board.

Covenant Ministry Team
Covenant Ministry seeks to fulfill the understanding that at MPPC every member has a ministry. During the year we work with new members to help them discern their call to ministry and then connect them to it. During Lent there is an annual congregation-wide focus during which the whole congregation is asked to discern their ministry for the coming year. Covenant Ministry then connects each member to his or her ministry for the year and supports them in it.

Faithbuilders Small Group Team
This team nurtures existing small groups and helps form new small groups throughout the church, encouraging members to grow as disciples of Christ through fellowship and study.

History Team                                                                                                                                                This ministry is exploring how to honor and display the history of Myers Park Presbyterian Church.

Hospitality Team
The Hospitality Team is an easy and fun way to get involved and meet people at MPPC and at special events. Serve on the Hospitality Team as a host on Sunday mornings, greeting people, answering questions and providing information to members and guests.

Ministry to New Members
Welcome and assist with assimilating new members into MPPC.

  • Serve on the New Member team.
  • Develop relationships with new members by fully participating in one of the new member classes held three times a year. Attend classes either every Sunday or Wednesday for four weeks one time a year.
  • Assist with Joining Sunday (three times a year).
  • Assist with the welcome dinner at the conclusion of each class (three times a year).
  • Follow up with new members to offer assistance with orientation or involvement.

Presbyterian Women
All women in the church are members of Presbyterian Women.  This organization offers fellowship, outreach, worship, education, and leadership opportunities for women in the church.

  • Lend a helping hand with the Fall Gathering, Christmas Communion, Gift Trees, or May Birthday.
  • Assume a leadership position within the PW organization by becoming a circle leader, chairing a committee, or being an officer.

Women’s Retreat Team
This team provides an opportunity for MPPC women to enjoy a weekend of fellowship, spiritual reflection, renewal, and relaxation. Opportunities include speaker selection, worship and music planning, brochure design, and registration and hospitality.

Young Adults Ministry
This ministry strives to provide a supportive community of belonging, friendship, growth, education, and fun. It is a group of single and married young adults, primarily but not limited to those who have not yet begun a family. Ways to be involved include joining one of several teams including Steering, Outreach, Education, and Social. Church school greeters are also needed.
