The Academy at Myers Park Presbyterian Church is designed as an opportunity for Christian learning for all adult members and friends. Courses are offered in two terms (Fall and Winter), and the classes are designed to foster and encourage better understanding of the Christian faith and a life of discipleship. Most Academy classes are taught on the church campus although some are located uptown and at other locations throughout Charlotte. Many, but not all, classes are held Wednesday evenings and some are offered other weekdays or Sunday mornings. Child care for preschoolers is available on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.

The curriculum includes core and elective courses. Core courses are basic to the foundation of Christian faith and are scheduled scheduled in a three-year rotation that contains classes for different levels of Christian commitment and knowledge. Elective course offerings supplement the core courses and will often relate to current issues, events, and interests.

The curriculum of The Academy is organized into four disciplines: Bible (B), Christian Living (CL), Reformed Theology and History (TH), and Spiritual Growth (SG). Each term The Academy will offer several courses within each discipline.

The overall program of study provides classes at different levels. 100-level courses are foundational to the Christian faith. They are designed for participants with a basic understanding of the topic. 200- and 300- level courses are designed to be progressively more in-depth, providing a higher level of engagement, and building on the understanding and growth in discipleship gained within the 100-level courses.

Please choose a class (or several); making a commitment to embark on a journey to gain new insights and knowledge, and in the process deepen your faith and understanding of God's transforming love.
