MPPC's local outreach ministries in this section include:
Energy Commited to Offenders (ECO)
MPPC has been a loyal supporter of ECO. MPPC's financial support enables ECO to minister to offenders through Aftercare and Family Support programs. Disciples mentor women ex-offenders housed at the Center for Women.
Aftercare begins with an inmate who is within six months of release. The program provides clients with obtaining identification, job development, transportation, housing assistance, food, clothing, medical referrals, job training referrals, substance abuse referrals and mental health referrals.
Family support is ECO's primary goal 'keeping the family together' while the offender is incarcerated. For more information contact ECO (704-374-0762).
Summit House
Through MPPC support, Summit House Charlotte is able to change the lives and futures of non-violent female offenders and children. Summit House is a residential treatment for non-violent female offenders with small children.
A mother must complete substance abuse treatment and maintain abstinence, obtain her GED, develop skills to maintain employment sufficient to support herself and children, pay all court costs and restitution and have $1500 in a savings account. The goal is to keep the family together while working to rehabilitate the mother, striving to change the future, one family at a time.
For more information contact Summit House at 704-334-4423 or visit the website at www.summithouse.org. MPPC members interested in becoming disciples for the Summit House should contact the Covenant Ministries office.
