From the Pastor
The kind of church we want to belong to has people placing their lives in the offering plate, along with the money, each Sunday through commissionings. It is a church that does not spend its energy trying to preserve itself, but instead uses itself up for the kingdom of God. It is a church that steps out and blesses others in the name of Christ. It is a church that knows no geographical or denominational boundaries. The church we see belongs to Jesus. It looks like him and acts like him. It loves like him and has his priorities and his commitments at heart. It is a fallible human institution that is empowered by divine grace. It is an embassy of the kingdom of God here on earth. It is a space station in the middle of an atmosphere that often has no air. That church is actually here, in part. It is given to us in the Scripture and by the very spirit of Christ himself. Together we are striving to build that kind of church here at Myers Park Presbyterian. So if you are looking for a way to dig deeper spiritually and serve others in a meaningful way, connect to this church. |

People ask what our vision is for this church. Our answer applies to this church and the Church as a whole. The church that we want to be part of constantly gives itself away. It is all over the place. It does things that shock people with its generosity. It gives of itself quietly withough blowing a horn or waving a flag. Is the kind of church that is open to diversity, but hangs on to the fundamentals of God's grace and our response to it.
